Hi – I’m Angela Nicklin. I am very happy to be joining the NVSA Team as a Training Officer. As a local in the area for many years I am very pleased to be working in my own community. I came to Northern Volunteering SA in 1997 to find a Volunteer Job that would interest me and I was referred to the Talking Newspaper Service of the Royal Society for the Blind. For 10 years I happily volunteered with the Elizabeth Talking Newspaper Team, coordinating the Team for 8 of those years. For the last 2 years of this time I also volunteered in the RSB Offices in Pirie Street and Angas Street – helping the Volunteer Department and the Print Alternatives Service. For the last 3 years I have been employed at the RSB as a Volunteer Support Officer. I had oversight of the Talking Newspaper Volunteers – over 350 volunteers helping with 24 metropolitan and regional newspapers. I had responsibility for the recruitment, interview and selection of new volunteers as well as being heavily involved in training them in the various aspects of their new roles. I also developed training programs for established volunteers. I am currently completing studies in Volunteer Management. |
