Hi and welcome to Northern Volunteering Training Services. I am the culprit whose photograph accompanies this page. and who negotiates and tailors training for organizations and delivers workshops open to individual enrolment. My background is in business management, human resources, hospitality and nursing, having also worked with Registered Training Organisations. As a qualified Workplace Assessor and Trainer, my previous lives and expertise can be drawn on to help make the training relevant to you.

My passion is to ensure that people are recognized for their life skills and experiences already gained and utilize your experiences to make the training fun and interactive.

A Certificate of Attendance is issued which outlines the areas covered in the workshop and identifies when you attended so that you have a record of your achievement. This helps you to gain skills recognition if you are undertaking formal qualifications and means you don't have to retrain in something you are already competent in and that you don't have to pay for training unnecessarily.

If you require training tailored to meet specific organisational needs, we are able to develop and deliver the training to meet your requirements. Skills audits and training needs analysis can be conducted for organisations to identify exactly what training needs to be delivered to achieve the best benefit for you.

The workshop topics range from personal development to workplace practices; some examples:
Workshop Outlines
CoursesDetails
Mediation and Conflict Resolution: The tools needed to resolve conflict in the workplace. This encompasses recognition of the problem and identifies how to use the process of conflict resolution to achieve a best outcome for all parties. Mediation identifies the process to use when you require a third party to assist those in conflict to remain focused on an outcome that recognises each individual as well as a group outcome.
Food Safe: Practical training for those people working 'hands on' in a food production environment. It assists in standardising work practices and takes the second guessing out of safe food handling techniques. The program is consistent with the Local Council requirements for food handling that were introduced under the new Food Act requirements in December.
Good Governance: Covers the legal responsibilities, meaning of 'good governance', policy development, relationships, roles of office bearers, agenda and standing orders, health & safety insurance motions and points of order. Ideal for the new committee member or Board representative.
Leading Teams: The make up of individuals and how to create a healthy team environment that recognises individual skills and personalities to maximum benefit of all. Why teams are not static and why sub teams or project teams can breathe new life into the way of doing things.
OHSW: What are the responsibilities of the organisation and the individual. Why is OHSW important in the workplace and how can we, as individuals, contribute to a healthy work environment.
Food Hygiene for Supervisors: For those people who are seen as a key resource within a food production area. Understanding why new measures are being introduced, how they apply and what needs to be done to evidence compliance. It is particularly important for those people who will be assisting developing and implementing training and documentation procedures.
Responsibilities for Incorporated Bodies: An overview for new committee members and a chance to revisit requirements for existing members. With changes in committee make-ups and boards following AGM's it is a great opportunity for team building. The workshop covers responsibilities under the Association Incorporation Act, constitutions, roles of the chair person and public officer and how to implement effective meeting techniques.
Effective Committees: Identifying why committees are formed and their purpose, contributing positively to a committee, running an effective meeting, record keeping requirements, reporting requirements, setting organisational boundaries, defining outcomes and achieving determined outcomes. (this workshop may be to specific attendees that you have identified for best benefit).
Geared for success - building your self confidence: Gives you the opportunity to do a stock take of where you currently are at and determine how to get to where you would like to be. It also identifies how your self esteem, self confidence and your own experiences help shape the way that you deal with situations.
Effective teamwork and conflict resolution: Examines the make up of individuals and identifies the different personalities that affect the way in which we work in a team. It also identifies some of the strategies you can use to create the best outcome for the team and how to minimise the potential for conflict.
